The principle of operation of the contact frame
The latest generation of AMD and Intel processors heat up quite a bit, so it is important to take care of their effective cooling in advance.
ILM (Independent Loading Mechanism) of the motherboard is a socket seating mechanism or pressure feet, the placement and design feature of which affects further contact with the processor surface. The standard integrated ILM loading mechanism has contact points of an extracted shape located inside the processor.
The surface of the integrated heat spreader (IHS – integrated heat spreader plate) bends due to uneven contact pressure of the processor in the socket. As a result, the support plate of the processor cooler rests mainly on the edges of the IHS and does not cover the hot thermal spot in the center of the processor.
The contact frame of the processor has a special internal contour that helps to shift the contact pressure from the center of the processor to the outer areas during assembly. This avoids concave curvature of the IHS and improves the contact of the base of the processor cooling system, which helps to increase the contact surface for removing excess heat.
Installing the contact frame is easy. The kit includes all the necessary parts and detailed instructions.
